Pennsylvania Woman Sentenced to Over Five Years for Meth Trafficking, DUI

Pennsylvania Woman Sentenced to Prison for Meth Possession After Traffic Stop

A woman from Orefield, PA, Terra Lynn Painter, 61, was sentenced to over five years in state prison in September following her 2024 arrest. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where a significant quantity of methamphetamine was discovered, according to the Bradford County District Attorney’s Office.

The Sentence and Charges

On September 9, Terra Lynn Painter received a sentence of no less than 69 months and up to 160 months in state prison. She was also fined $2,000 for the following offenses:

  • Possession with intent to deliver 214.56 grams of methamphetamine
  • Driving under the influence of methamphetamine

Details of the Arrest

Painter's arrest occurred in July 2024 after she crashed her car on Route 220 in Monroe Township. Pennsylvania State Police responded to the scene and observed that Painter exhibited signs of impairment, including bloodshot eyes and dilated pupils.

Discovery of the Methamphetamine

Painter was carrying bags from her vehicle. After failing a field sobriety test and admitting to smoking marijuana earlier in the day, a search of her belongings revealed a substantial amount of methamphetamine. The District Attorney's Office stated that this was one of the largest single recoveries of methamphetamine in Bradford County.

Due to the quantity of meth and other items found, Painter was suspected of intending to distribute the drugs, leading to her conviction.

Official Commendation

Bradford County District Attorney Richard Wilson praised the state trooper involved for their investigative work, which resulted in the removal of the drugs from the community.

“Thanks to the trooper’s efforts, we were able to take a significant amount of methamphetamine off the street, and also hold Ms. Painter accountable,” Wilson said.

Wilson also noted that the sentence was appropriate considering Painter's extensive criminal history.
