Throwback Weekender Kickstarts the Celebrations
The month-long celebration begins with 1Xtra’s Throwback Weekender, running from Friday, October 3rd, to Sunday, October 5th. This weekend will feature guest co-hosts across various shows, bringing a nostalgic vibe to the airwaves. Expect classic tracks and insightful conversations.
- Friday: Craig David joins Nadia Jae on Radio 1Xtra Breakfast, Sneakbo co-hosts with Remi Burgz, and Flukes from Crazy Cousinz join Jeremiah Asiamah on 1Xtra’s Rave Show.
- Saturday: Lethal Bizzle joins Nick Bright to discuss career-shaping moments, and Tinie Tempah presents a special show marking 15 years since his debut album.
- Sunday: Trevor Nelson hosts a Black History Mixtape of empowerment anthems, Eddie Kadi is joined by Victony to reveal his top ten Nigerian tracks, Rampage showcases dancehall, funky house, and R&B, and AJ Odudu features on 1Xtra Talks with Richie Brave.
Highlighting ‘Living Legends’ and Inspiring Stories
Throughout October, 1Xtra will also spotlight ‘Living Legends’, paying tribute to Black pioneers and cultural figures. Daytime hosts DJ Day Day and Kaylee Golding will host ‘Your Hero’s Hero’, where guests discuss the individuals who inspired their work, offering listeners a deeper understanding of the influences shaping contemporary Black artists. The initiative will celebrate the success and excellence of Black music and culture.
