Blaine Crim Set to Make Rockies Debut
Blaine Crim has been recalled by the Colorado Rockies from Triple-A Albuquerque. According to Kevin Henry of The Denver Gazette, this move positions Crim to potentially make his debut with the Rockies. Crim was claimed off waivers from the Texas Rangers earlier this year and has been performing well in Albuquerque.
Crim's Performance in Triple-A
Since joining Triple-A Albuquerque, Blaine Crim has posted a .273/.360/.424 slash line in 114 plate appearances. This performance has earned him a call-up to the majors. With 27 hits in 99 at-bats, including three home runs, Crim has demonstrated his offensive capabilities.
Toglia Optioned, Bernabel Injured
The move to bring up Blaine Crim coincides with Michael Toglia being optioned back to Triple-A Albuquerque. Additionally, Warming Bernabel is currently sidelined due to a concussion, opening up an opportunity for Crim to serve as the team's primary first baseman. Toglia, despite showing promise in Albuquerque, struggled with the Rockies, slashing .190/.258/.353.
Crim's Role and Jersey Number
Blaine Crim will wear jersey number 16 for the Colorado Rockies. Because he is already on the 40-man roster, no further roster moves were required to accommodate his arrival. The team hopes Crim can provide a spark at first base while Bernabel recovers.
