Cold Justice Team Reinvestigates 22-Year-Old Disappearance of Indiana Mom Brandy Wilson

Cold Justice Investigates the 2002 Disappearance of Indiana Mom, Brandy Wilson

The disappearance of Brandy Wilson, an Indiana mother of two, in June 2002, has remained a chilling cold case. Kenny Wilson, her husband, claimed she left with $400 and abandoned her wedding rings, but coworkers suspected foul play. Now, the show Cold Justice has taken a fresh look at the case in Clinton County, seeking answers to what happened to Brandy.

Brandy Wilson's Final Words and Initial Investigation

Just before her disappearance, Brandy Wilson confided in her coworkers about her troubled marriage to Kenny Wilson. "She told us it had gotten really bad at home and she was scared," said coworker Clarissa Wessel, as recounted on Cold Justice. "And if she didn’t show up tomorrow, that Kenny did something to her." Lt. Dan Roudebush, of the Clinton County Sheriff's Office, acknowledged the case has deeply affected her friends, family, and the initial investigators.

Kenny Wilson's Account and Troubled Past

Kenny Wilson admitted to "marital difficulties" and stated he'd sent their children to his parents' house to work on their relationship. He claimed that on the day of Brandy's disappearance, they had breakfast, made love, and went to sleep. Upon waking, he said, she was gone, leaving behind her rings and taking money. However, Kenny's past also cast a shadow. Years prior, he was charged in a 1987 robbery homicide. "Kenny pled guilty to the robbery in exchange for the homicide charges to be dropped and spent 10 years in prison," explained Steve Spingola of Cold Justice.

Coworker Testimonies and Growing Suspicions

Brandy's coworkers painted a picture of a controlling and potentially abusive relationship. Some stated she arrived at work with bruises. Sheila Whitten, a coworker, revealed that Brandy confided that Kenny allegedly "strangled her unconscious" a month before her disappearance. Further, Kenny was rumored to have joked about the contents of his trunk the night Brandy vanished and was reportedly having an affair, according to Kim Pearcy, another coworker.

The Cold Justice Investigation and Current Status

Kelly Siegler and Steve Spingola, the Cold Justice team, worked with local detectives to re-examine the evidence. Although witness accounts painted a compelling case, the prosecutor felt there was insufficient evidence, especially given the lack of a body. Despite Siegler's disagreement, the case remains uncharged for now. "This case turned out good and strong," she said. "The sheriff’s department never gave up and I know they never will.”
