Inside Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers' Contentious Divorce: A Look at Their "House of Squalor"
The divorce between actress Denise Richards and her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, has taken a turn, with Phypers showcasing the alleged condition of their former shared rental home. He claims Richards left the $3.5 million property in a state of disarray, a charge she denies.
Phypers' Tour of the Property
Aaron Phypers, 52, provided Inside Edition with a tour of the rental property, revealing rooms filled with piles of clothing, dusty furniture, and a child's room cluttered with toys. Phypers highlighted the presence of moth-infested vintage clothing and a messy bathroom countertop, suggesting Denise Richards has a hoarding problem, or "something."
"There's hundreds of dollars worth of vintage clothing in here. It is riddled with moths," Phypers stated during the tour, placing responsibility for the alleged mess squarely on Richards.
Richards' Rebuttal and Legal Battles
Denise Richards, 54, has refuted Phypers' claims, stating she hasn't lived at the property for two years. According to court documents obtained by Page Six, Richards accuses her ex-husband and his family of "severely damaged the property and left the house in a state of disarray."
Adding to the complexity, Phypers resides in the lower level of the property with his parents, brother, and Richards' 15 dogs. She is seeking to retrieve her personal belongings and dogs from the house without violating a restraining order against him.
Eviction and Restraining Order
As a result of unpaid rent, Phypers and his relatives are facing eviction. A judge has approved Richards' request to retrieve her pets and belongings. Richards had previously informed Phypers that he would be responsible for the rent payment, but he allegedly failed to pay and refused to vacate the property.
Abuse Allegations and Divorce Proceedings
Phypers filed for divorce from Richards in July, citing "irreconcilable differences," following six years of marriage. The divorce proceedings have become increasingly contentious, with Richards accusing Phypers of abuse, which he denies. He claims that her abuse allegations are retaliatory because he publicly dumped her.
"She's upset. I publicly dumped her to the world, and she's mad, so how does she retaliate? File a bogus abuse claim," Phypers stated.
Amid the difficult split, Richards has expressed her gratitude for the support she has received from fans. The former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star acknowledged the challenging circumstances surrounding her divorce and promised to share her side of the story when the time is right.
