Earthquake Activity off the Oregon Coast
More than a dozen earthquakes have been reported off the coast of Oregon since Monday. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the latest was a 5.1 magnitude earthquake reported on Tuesday afternoon, located deep in the Pacific Ocean.
Another significant quake, measuring 5.8 in magnitude, was reported on Monday, approximately 100 miles off the southern Oregon coastline. At this time, no tsunami alerts were issued, and there are no reports of people on land feeling the impacts of either earthquake. Such events are relatively common in the Pacific Northwest region.

The Tuesday earthquake occurred roughly 170 miles west of Grants Pass. Earthquakes are a recurring phenomenon off the coasts of Oregon, Washington, and California.
