If you're considering voting in the 2025 municipal election — the races that decide who controls the government that impacts you most directly — you should know there are some important dates fast approaching.
In less than a month, approximately 480,196 registered voters are set to choose who serves in county row offices, court justices, municipal governments and on school boards across Bucks County.
Whether you’re a habitual voter or have never cast a ballot before, here are the important dates you need to know if you think you’ll be voting in this year’s election.

When is the 2025 election?
The election is Nov. 4.

Polls are to remain open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Election Day. Those who are already in line when polls close are still to be given the chance to vote.
The Bucks County Board of Elections website has a list of more than 300 polling places, and it includes links to look up your polling place if you’re a registered voter.
When is the last day to register to vote in the election?
Any voter registration applications must be received in the Bucks County Board of Elections office by the close of business on Oct. 20.
You must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Pennsylvania for at least 30 days before the election to be able to register for the 2025 election. Applications can be filled out and returned in person or by mail at 55 E. Court St. in Doylestown Borough.

You can look up the status of your voter registration, fill out an online registration form or download a copy of the registration form to return to the county offices online at pavoterservices.pa.gov.
When's the last day to apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot?
Applications for mail ballots must be received in the Bucks County Board of Elections office by 5 p.m. Oct. 28.
It's recommended that voters check the status of their voter registration before applying.
Voters may apply for a mail-in ballot in person at the county elections office, online at pavoterservices.pa.gov, or print a copy of the application from the state’s website to mail back or hand in the form to the county.

When will I get my mail-in ballot?
If you’ve already applied for a mail-in ballot, you should be receiving it soon.
Bucks County spokesman Jim O’Malley said that election workers were expected to start sending out ballots as early as the end of the week of Oct. 3.
The Pennsylvania Department of State, which oversees administration of elections, also has an online tool to track the status of your mail-in ballot at pavoterserves.pa.gov.
When does my mail ballot have to be returned?
In order to be counted for the 2025 election, mail ballots must be received by the county offices before polls close at 8 p.m. Nov. 4. Ballots arriving with postmarks before Election Day are not to be counted if they arrive late.

In addition to the U.S. Postal Service, mail ballots can also be returned directly to the county’s office in Doylestown or satellite offices at 7321 New Falls Road in Levittown and 261 California Road in Quakertown.
Starting Oct. 6, the county also has mail ballot drop boxes available outside of its three offices during regular business hours Monday through Friday. The Quakertown office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, and the Doylestown and Levittown locations are open from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
Drop boxes at all three county offices are also to be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1.
On Oct. 20, eight more drop boxes are to be added at libraries across the county.

A full list of drop boxes and their availability may be found on the county’s website.
Mail ballot drop boxes are also to be available at any of the three county offices during regular business hours Monday through Friday as of Oct. 6.
