During testimony on Tuesday, Crime Intelligence boss Dumisani Khumalo revealed WhatsApp messages exchanged between Mogotsi and Matlala. These messages reportedly highlight the financial transactions and the nature of their relationship. The revealed messages suggest Matlala spent significant sums of money at Mogotsi’s request.
Mogotsi's Access to Information and Influence
Mogotsi’s access to confidential police information appears to have been crucial in gaining Matlala’s trust. Matlala, who has been linked to the R2 billion Tembisa Hospital tender scandal, allegedly provided funds for various expenses at Mogotsi's direction.

The transactions included booking flights for individuals to attend a presidential gala dinner in Cape Town and large sums of money being deposited into the account of a little-known travel company. Khumalo's testimony shed light on the extent of Matlala's spending at Mogotsi's behest.
