Manitoba to Keep COVID-19 Vaccinations Free, Diverging from Alberta and Quebec Policy

Manitoba Continues Free COVID-19 Vaccinations While Other Provinces Introduce Fees

Manitoba will maintain its policy of providing free COVID-19 vaccinations to all residents aged six months and older, even as other provinces begin charging for the shots. This decision sets Manitoba apart from Alberta and Quebec, which have recently announced changes to their vaccination programs.

Free Vaccinations to Remain in Manitoba

According to a statement from a Manitoba government spokesperson, "There are no plans to change Manitoba's policy at this time." This commitment ensures that all Manitobans, regardless of their risk level, will have access to free COVID-19 vaccines.

Changes in Alberta and Quebec

In contrast to Manitoba's approach, Alberta and Quebec have decided to limit free COVID-19 vaccinations to specific high-risk groups. Individuals outside of these groups will be required to pay for the shots. The cost is estimated to be between $150 and $180 per shot in Quebec and $110 in Alberta.

Saskatchewan Also Offers Free Vaccines

Saskatchewan, like Manitoba, plans to continue offering COVID-19 vaccines to its residents free of charge. This ensures accessibility to vaccinations for all individuals in Saskatchewan.

Manitoba's Fall Immunization Program

Manitoba's upcoming fall immunization program will include free COVID-19 vaccinations. Further details about the program, including specific locations and schedules, are expected to be released soon.
