Kumail Nanjiani and his wife Emily Gordon shared the death of their pet cat, named Bagel, in a touching social media post.
The announcement was shared on Wednesday, Sept. 10, on Instagram in a joint post between the couple. The tribute included 19 photos and videos of the gray cat, along with a heartfelt caption.
“She traveled the world with us,” it began. “She loved her boxes of trash and catnip bananas. She loved churu but never out of the tube.”

The couple, who have been married since July 2007, remember Bagel as being “happy, carefree and totally herself till the very end,” calling her their “tiny perfect angel for her entire life.”
The last lines read, “It wasn’t enough time. But it’ll have to do. We will always love her,” along with her birth and death dates: “August 2008 - September 2025.”
Though the duo keeps a low profile, they are proud cat parents who have shared cute moments with Bagel over the years.
In December 2019, just after Nanjiani starred in the action-packed Marvel movie The Eternals, Gordon shared a slice-of-life image, catching her husband playing a video game while Bagel slept peacefully draped over his legs.

“He’s super buff, but he’s also still super this guy: a horrifically focused gamer and the best cat lap,” the caption read. “And if you don’t know what I’m talking about, please go to the Instagram of @kumailn,” referencing the many muscle-flexing images the actor posted at the time.
For Valentine’s Day 2020, the couple donned matching pajamas covered with Bagel’s face, and the two gushed to PEOPLE about loving their little family.
“It’s just like having like a great slumber party all the time,” Nanjiani said at the time. “It really is. We just love hanging out.” To which Gordon noted, “Sometimes it will be pancakes and sometimes it will be scripts.”
Earlier this summer, the proud cat dad shared a photo of Bagel and poked fun at her nearly hairless face, writing, She is 16 and has had one (1) white whisker for two (2) years” with Gordon in the comments, defending Bagel, writing, “She’s just a baby.”
That same month, Nanjiani celebrated Father’s Day as a cat dad: “She always puts her paw on my chin when I pick her up.”
More recently, the star also celebrated International Cat Day with another adorable photo with Bagel and wrote in the caption, “I would quite literally do anything for Bagel.”
