Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy Welcomes Son Rome Micah Days After Thrilling NFL Debut Win

J.J. McCarthy and Katya Kuropas Welcome Baby Boy, Rome Micah McCarthy

J.J. McCarthy, the new quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, and his fiancée, Katya Kuropas, are celebrating the arrival of their first child, a son named Rome Micah McCarthy. The couple announced the birth on Friday, following a week of significant milestones for McCarthy.

A Family of Five

The new parents shared adorable photos on Instagram of baby Rome with his furry siblings, Marley and Rocky McCarthy. The caption on the post read, “Marley, Rocky & Rome … that works! I think we’ll keep him,” showcasing the family's joy.

Kuropas announced Rome’s birth just four days after McCarthy led the Vikings to a comeback victory over the Bears in his first NFL start, marking a whirlwind of exciting events for the young family.

The Announcement and Well Wishes

“Welcome to the world Rome Micah McCarthy,” Kuropas gushed on Instagram. “The sweetest, most perfect gift from God!! We are so unbelievably blessed to be your parents.” The post also specified that Rome weighed 8.7lbs and measured 21 inches long.

The engaged couple shared their initial pregnancy announcement in May, expressing their excitement for their baby boy's arrival in September. The post read: "The best surprises come when you least expect them. Our sweet baby boy is arriving in September and we couldn’t be happier."

McCarthy's Debut and Coach's Confidence

Despite the momentous occasion, McCarthy is expected to play on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. He made his highly anticipated debut the previous week, leading the Vikings to a 27-24 comeback win against the Bears after shaking off a rocky start. He threw for two touchdowns, one interception, and also rushed for a score.

Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell expressed his confidence in McCarthy, stating, “I felt poise from the very beginning.” He even told McCarthy at halftime, "You are going to bring us back to win this game." This confidence boost proved crucial for McCarthy's performance.

Looking Ahead

The Vikings are set to host the Falcons this week on "Sunday Night Football." This week promises to be another significant one for J.J. McCarthy, balancing his burgeoning NFL career with his newfound role as a father.
