Lebanon, Virginia Man Found Guilty of Multiple Child Sex Crimes
A Lebanon, Virginia man, David Walter Moore III, 54, was found guilty on Thursday of multiple child sex crimes in Russell County. The charges include object sexual penetration, aggravated sexual battery, and indecent liberties of a child.
Details of the Conviction
According to a news release from the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office in Russell County, David Walter Moore III was convicted of the following offenses:
- Object sexual penetration (10 counts)
- Aggravated sexual battery (one count)
- Indecent liberties of a child (one count)
The Commonwealth presented evidence during the jury trial demonstrating that Moore sexually abused a child multiple times over a two-year period.
Statements from Authorities
Commonwealth Attorney Zack Stoots expressed gratitude for the jury's decision. "We are grateful the jury reached the right result and held the defendant responsible for these horrific and unjust acts against an innocent child," he stated. "My office will be asking the court to impose multiple life sentences against the defendant."

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and the Highlands Children’s Advocacy Center all participated in the investigation.
Sentencing and Legal Proceedings
Moore's sentencing is scheduled for January 8 at 1 p.m.
He is currently being held in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail.
