Longtime "Dancing with the Stars" judge Carrie Ann Inaba will be absent from tonight's Season 34 premiere on ABC and Disney+ due to illness. The premiere airs live at 8 p.m. ET.

Inaba's Announcement

Inaba announced her absence on social media, stating she was "feeling quite under the weather." She added, "I'm resting up and can't wait to be back next week in good health. In the meantime, I wish all the contestants the very best of luck. I’ll be cheering you on from home." She expects to return for the second episode of the season, airing live on September 23.

Judging Panel for the Premiere

ABC Audio confirmed that no replacement judge will be taking Inaba's place this week. This means that judges Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough will be the sole members of the judging panel providing feedback to the contestants on premiere night.

In response to Inaba's announcement, her "Dancing with the Stars" family shared well wishes. Hough posted heart emojis, while co-host Julianne Hough wrote, "Get better soon sis ❤️‍🩹". Pro dancer Britt Stewart also wrote, "Hope you feel better Carrie Ann! ❤️❤️"

This season's contestants include "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" stars Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt; Fifth Harmony member Lauren Jauregui; Olympic gold medalist Jordan Chiles; influencer Alix Earle; "The Traitors" winner Dylan Efron; and "Boy Meets World" star Danielle Fishel.
