JOHANNESBURG - A Lenasia police officer is expected in court for allegedly shooting and killing his friend.
He had apparently stepped in to diffuse a tavern altercation.
Tshepiso Malepane is accused of killing Lebogang Sekhute outside a tavern in Pimville.
Malepane had allegedly spanked a young girl, sparking outrage among patrons.
Witnesses say Sekhute tried to calm the situation, but was later dragged from his car.
He was shot in the head, neck, and chest, allegedly with Malepane's state-issued firearm.
The officer has since been arrested and remains in custody.
