Investigation Launched After Bodies of Man and Child Found in Finglas, Dublin
Gardaí are investigating the deaths of a man and a young girl after their bodies were discovered at a house in the Heathfield estate in the Cappagh area of Finglas, Dublin on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 8:00 pm.
Discovery and Initial Response
A major response by Gardaí and emergency services followed the discovery at the residence, which is located close to Cappagh Hospital. The scene has been preserved, and the Garda Technical Bureau is currently conducting a forensic examination.
Forensic Examination and Investigation
The bodies, identified as an adult male and a female child, remain at the scene pending preliminary technical examination. The Coroner has been notified, and the services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested. Post-mortem examinations will be arranged to assist Gardaí in determining the course of the investigation. An incident room is being established at Finglas Garda station, and a Senior Investigating Officer has been assigned.
Garda Statement and Suspected Circumstances
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána stated that they are "investigating all circumstances surrounding the discovery of the two bodies". Initial reports suggest that the deceased may be related. Sources indicate that Gardaí are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths and suspect a possible murder-suicide. There were no signs of forced entry at the scene. A Family Liaison officer will be appointed to assist the family.
