Zara Larsson's

Zara Larsson didn’t just drop an album, she set the digital stage ablaze. Her latest project, Midnight Sun, has stormed onto charts around the world, proving yet again that Sweden’s brightest pop export knows how to command the global spotlight.

A Streaming Tsunami

In its first full day of release, Midnight Sun racked up an eye-watering 3,872,952 million streams on Spotify. That number secures it as Zara’s second-best debut album on the platform, behind her blockbuster 2017 effort So Good with 9.45 million streams. For perspective: her last two projects, VENUS and Poster Girl, clocked in at 2.75M and 2.71M, respectively.

That’s not growth, it’s an explosion.

Entering the global leagues

The princess of Swedish pop is also world royalty. Zara made history and entered Spotify’s Top Artists Global for the first time ever, arriving at #177 as the largest new entry. Back on her home turf of Sweden, though, she’s a complete behemoth: Zara ascended 30 positions to claim the #1 spot on Spotify Sweden’s Daily Top Artists. And if you ever doubted it, she’s sat on Sweden’s Top Artists list for a staggering 1,437 days in a row, or nearly four years straight without budging.

All of the songs from Midnight Sun entered Sweden’s Top 100 simultaneously, a not-so-common achievement reserved for a few of the world’s major pop titans. The best bits:

#3. “Blue Moon” – 118,282 streams (New)

#12. “Hot & Sexy” – 79,927 streams (New)

#16. “Midnight Sun” – 69,777 streams (+10)

#41. “Crush” – 41,237 streams (Re-entry)

#44. “The Ambition” – 40,379 streams (New)

#52. “Girl’s Girl” – 36,555 streams (New)

#55. “Eurosummer” – 35,680 streams (New)

#85. “Pretty Ugly” – 29,631 streams (Re-entry)

#88. “Puss Puss” – 29,138 streams (New)

#98. “Saturn’s Return” – (New)

That’s not a debut, it’s a complete sweep.

Critics Are Eating It Up

And if the numbers weren’t proof enough, Zara also earned her best reviews to date. Midnight Sun launched with a sparkling 89 on Metacritic, a whopping best rating for the album so far. For comparison: VENUS had a 74, Poster Girl had 72, and her first So Good had a 76. With Midnight Sun, Zara isn’t just racking up streams, she’s long deservingly receiving the critical flowers.

Apple Music and iTunes Dominate

The hot streak doesn’t end on Spotify. On Apple Music, Midnight Sun charts in the top 10 in 27 nations, 8 of them in the top 5. Standouts include:
