Jackson Lafferty has been re-elected as the Tłı̨chǫ grand chief, defeating former Behchoko chief Clifford Daniels in Monday's election.
Lafferty received 962 votes to Daniels' 689, according to results that the Tłı̨chǫ government posted to Facebook.
After the results were announced, Lafferty called it a "huge victory" for Tłı̨chǫ Nation.
"We've been separated, we've been divided, but now we conquered it," Lafferty said.
"We won, we won our victory here tonight, but we must reunite our nation. Let's make it stronger."
According to the results, 60 per cent of citizens on the voters list participated in the election with a total of 1,664 ballots cast.
