Nicole Kidman's recent living situation has fueled speculation about the state of her marriage to Keith Urban. The actress is reportedly paying £65,000 [$88,000] per month for a luxury home in London, where she has been residing separately from her husband, prompting questions about their 19-year relationship.
Luxury London Living Without Keith Urban
The 58-year-old actress has been staying in a Hampstead mansion while filming the "Practical Magic" sequel in the U.K.. The opulent property, once owned by pop star Boy George, boasts five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a cinema, a roof terrace, and a meditation room. However, Keith Urban has not been seen at the residence.
While filming for the "Practical Magic" sequel has wrapped up, a source suggests that Kidman is "getting comfortable" in her "dream home." This separation follows a period of mourning after the death of Nicole Kidman’s mother last September, leading some to believe the couple is growing apart.
"It's like they both went their separate ways. Now she's getting comfortable in a dream home in London on the other side of the world,"
The source added that Kidman's "living arrangement was raising eyebrows among the community."
Touring Schedules and Time Apart
Keith Urban has been traveling across the U.S. and Canada as part of his "High And Alive Tour," which is ongoing until mid-October. This has resulted in extended periods of separation, raising questions about their commitment to spending no more than two weeks apart.
An insider stated: "No one knows how long they can put up with this situation, as they've always been diligent about not spending more than two weeks apart. Clearly, that's not the case anymore." The couple, who married in 2006, share two children, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, and typically split their time between Australia and the U.S.
Portuguese Residency Application Sparks Further Speculation
Adding fuel to the fire, reports emerged nearly two months ago that Kidman filed for a Portuguese residency, with Urban's name missing from the application. She was reportedly looking for a lavish property in the affluent CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club, located about 81 miles south of Lisbon.
Clarification on Keith Urban's Absence
Sources close to the couple have dismissed rumors of a rift, explaining that Urban's absence from the residency application is due to his tour schedule. A source clarified that it is mandatory for applicants to be physically present in order to apply for the visa. Urban is scheduled to submit his application at a later date that works with his tour schedule and their primary residence will continue to be in Nashville.
The Hampstead Mansion's Dark History
Despite its luxurious amenities, Kidman's English mansion has a dark past. In 1986, Michael Rudetsky was found dead from an overdose in the living room. Despite this, the actress is seemingly unfazed by the mansion's eerie history. The property is close to Hampstead Heath, which is a draw for stars used to living in America and she will have neighbours such as Harry Styles, Jude Law and Helena Bonham Carter and Judi Dench.
