Truboy BBQ Opens First Brick-and-Mortar Location in Missouri City
Truboy BBQ, a halal barbecue restaurant previously operating out of a commercial kitchen, is set to open its first physical location in Missouri City on October 9th. Founder Jereis Khawaja aims to offer a modern, inclusive take on traditional Texas barbecue, all prepared according to halal standards.
Bringing Halal BBQ to the Community
The new restaurant is located at 8035 Hwy 6. Khawaja expressed his vision for Truboy BBQ, stating, "With this opening, we're showing that Texas barbecue can be both authentic and inclusive. Our mission has always been to make Texas barbecue accessible to everyone." He added that the storefront will allow them to connect more deeply with the community, support local businesses, and "continue redefining what barbecue means in Texas."
Khawaja, a Houston native, began his barbecue venture packaging ready-to-eat meals at Denver Broncos tailgates while living in Colorado. This experience led to expanding the business into wholesale shipping across the U.S. and Canada, supplying to over 70 local restaurants, including Mad Dogs and Dripped Birria.
Menu and Features
At the brick-and-mortar location, customers can customize their meals choosing from sliced brisket, chopped brisket, or pulled chicken, and served as a sandwich, melt, burrito, paratha, or bowl. Truboy BBQ will also offer grab-and-go items such as premium brisket, brisket eggrolls, beef ribs, sausage, and jumbo brisket tamales, along with frozen heat-and-eat meals and a selection of imported snacks.
The 2,300 square foot storefront provides seating for 30 indoors and 20 outdoors. The layout is designed for quick-service.
