Katia Lindor's Performance and Jose Iglesias Honored at Mets Game
Before Tuesday's game between the New York Mets and the San Diego Padres, it was a night of special moments. Katia Lindor, wife of Mets All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor, delivered a beautiful rendition of the national anthem on the violin. Additionally, former Met Jose Iglesias received a tribute video.
Katia Lindor's Memorable Anthem Performance
Katia Lindor, a classically trained violinist, played a moving version of the national anthem prior to the game. Francisco Lindor and their three children watched proudly as she performed. After the anthem, a joyful Lindor celebrated while holding their youngest child, Koa Amani Lindor.
Later in the game, Francisco Lindor hit a home run in the second inning, and cameras captured Katia Lindor celebrating with their children. Their daughter, Kalina, also participated in the pre-game festivities by saying "play ball." The family's presence coincided with Lindor receiving an award for being named the 2025 Roberto Clemente Award Nominee for the Mets and the club's celebration of Hispanic Heritage Night.
Katia Lindor minored in music at St. Mary's University in Texas and has maintained her passion for music, practicing a few times a month. She emphasized the importance of music in her life, stating,
"Music being such an intricate part of my education and upbringing since I was little, I just can't imagine my life without it."
Lindor also had a strong performance in the game, getting a single in his first at-bat before hitting his 27th home run of the season. Prior to the game, he was batting .263 with 77 RBIs. The couple, who married in 2021, welcomed their third child last March.
Jose Iglesias Tribute
The Mets also honored former infielder Jose Iglesias with a tribute video before the game against the Padres. The video showcased his best moments with the team.
Iglesias's contributions both on and off the field were highlighted. His "OMG" Mets performance last year was instrumental in turning the team around after a poor start. He helped lead them to the NLCS after being called up from the minor leagues.
In 85 games with the Mets in 2024, Iglesias had an impressive slash line of .337/.381/.448 with an OPS of .830. While his postseason performance wasn't as strong, he still contributed with three RBI in 12 games. Despite hoping to re-sign with the Mets, Iglesias eventually signed with the Padres, providing valuable bench depth.
This season, with the Padres, Iglesias has played in 106 games, slashing .227/.297/.273 with an OPS of .569 and 32 RBI.
