Seven family members have died after a fire tore through their home and others in Thailand, according to reports

A family of seven has died after a fire tore through their home and others in Thailand, according to reports.
The fire broke out during the early morning hours of Thursday, Oct. 2, while the family was sleeping on the second floor of a townhouse in Rayong province, the Associated Press reported.

The family reportedly attempted to escape the fire, which blocked their efforts after consuming the first floor and eventually burned them to death.
The victims of the blaze include at least three children, according to the AP and Thai PBS World.
They have been identified as grandmother Ladda Polsiri, 57, her daughter Nan Polsiri, 29, son Sarawut Polsiri, 32, his wife Sararat Polsiri, 29, and their three children Face, 2, Ikkyu, 2, and Honey, 1.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Chaikrit Taorat of the Rayong City Police Station said some of the victims “died in a huddle,” according to the AP. “The fire destroyed the entire house,” he said.

Neighbors called for help around 2:30 a.m. local time after hearing members of the family plead for help.
Footage from the scene showed neighbors’ efforts to put out the fire using bowls of water.
The fire eventually spread to four other houses before it was extinguished after about 30 minutes, according to the AP.
The buildings were all destroyed before the fire was put out, Thai PBS World reported.
Afterward, some of the victims' bodies reportedly were found lying in a second-floor doorway.

Meanwhile, the AP reported that three neighbors were treated at Rayong Hospital for smoke inhalation.

Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the fire, according to the reports.
Anusorn Saengkla, Mueang Rayong district chief, said authorities “believe the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit," the AP reported.
