Get a First Taste of the Alabama National Fair at "Taste of the Fair"
Montgomery's annual celebration of fair food, Taste of the Fair, is back on October 2nd, offering a preview of the treats to come at the Alabama National Fair. The event provides an opportunity to sample a wide array of fair favorites before the main event kicks off.
Event Details
Taste of the Fair will be held on the fairgrounds outside Garrett Coliseum, located at 1555 Federal Drive, Montgomery, starting at 5 p.m. Admission is $30 per person, granting access to sample as many treats as you like. This event is organized annually by the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery.
Fair Food Favorites and New Treats
Attendees can expect all the classic fair food delights, including funnel cakes, corndogs, deep-fried Oreos, fries, ice cream, and pizza. Randy Stephenson, executive director of the Alabama National Fair, revealed that this year's fair will feature new treats specifically for bacon enthusiasts.
"We actually have a guy who specializes in bacon dishes," Stephenson said. "He does all kind of bacon. He does chocolate covered bacon — with chocolate and white chocolate. Bacon-wrapped chicken. Just all kinds of bacon dishes. I'm looking forward to that. I'm a bacon guy."
Supporting Local Causes
While previous Taste of the Fair events supported specific causes, this year's proceeds will contribute to the Kiwanis Club's general fund, which supports various local charities. Stephenson stated that the funds raised will be allocated to a charitable cause to be determined later.
"It will go to a charity. We just don't know which one yet," Stephenson said. "It's going into a general giveaway fund this year."
More Than Just a Taste: Free Admission to the Alabama National Fair
The fun doesn't end on October 2nd. Each Taste of the Fair guest receives a free admission to the Alabama National Fair, allowing them to return for another day of festivities during its 11-day run from October 3rd to 13th.
