Hamas Lauds Recognition of Palestinian State by Western Nations
The terror organization Hamas has praised the recent recognition of a Palestinian state by several Western nations, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Portugal, and Australia. In a statement released on Sunday, Hamas hailed the move as "an important step" towards Palestinian statehood.
Hamas's Reaction and Demands
According to Hamas, this recognition is vital for upholding the rights of the Palestinian people to their land and holy sites, and for establishing an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. The organization considers this "a deserved outcome of our people’s struggle." They further assert that this recognition should be followed by a cessation of what they describe as Israel's "brutal genocide" in Gaza.
Hamas has also called on the international community to actively "confront the annexation and Judaization plans in the West Bank and Jerusalem." The group urges the world to isolate Israel and impose "punitive measures" against the Jewish state.

Expected Future Recognition and Macron's Stance
Other nations, including France, are anticipated to follow the lead of the UK, Australia, and Canada in recognizing a Palestinian state. French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that recognizing a Palestinian state would help to isolate Hamas.
According to Macron, recognizing a Palestinian state signifies acknowledging the legitimate grievances of the Palestinian people and distinguishing them from the actions of Hamas. He believes that this recognition is "the best way to isolate Hamas.”
