Murder Charge Filed After Body Found in Derelict Building in Lewisham

A 39-year-old man, Daniel Watkis, has been charged with murder following the discovery of a body in a derelict building in Lewisham, south-east London. The victim, identified as Junior Ryan Coleman, had been reported missing in August.

Discovery and Identification

The Metropolitan Police reported that officers located the body of Junior Ryan Coleman, 34, on September 19th while searching a property on Brockley Road. Coleman had been missing since August 20th, prompting a search operation.

Cause of Death and Investigation

A post-mortem examination revealed that Coleman's death was caused by blunt force trauma to the head. This finding led to the launch of a formal murder inquiry by the Metropolitan Police.

Suspect Charged and Remanded

Daniel Watkis, 39, of Glenarm Road, Hackney, was charged with murder on Friday. He appeared the same day at Bromley Magistrates' Court and has been remanded in custody, according to the Metropolitan Police.
