Chelmsford Bar Worker Accused of Mutilating and Murdering Love Rival
A disturbing trial is underway at Chelmsford Crown Court, where allegations have surfaced regarding the gruesome murder of Cumali Turhan. Prosecutors claim that Ceyhan Dinler, a bar worker, fatally stabbed Turhan and mutilated his body before fleeing to Turkey. The incident allegedly occurred at the Barista bar in Chelmsford on November 19th of last year.
Details of the Alleged Crime
During the trial of Ciprian Ilie, who is accused of assisting Dinler after the murder, the court heard horrifying details of the crime. Christopher Paxton KC, prosecuting, stated that Dinler allegedly severed parts of Turhan's body and disposed of them in bins at the bar. Ilie denies the charges against him, which include assisting an offender and preventing the lawful and decent burial of a dead body.
Specifically, Mr. Paxton told the court that Mr. Turhan’s “penis and the tip of his tongue” had been “cut off” after the attack. Forensic teams located these remains in separate bins during the investigation.
The Search and Discovery
Police officers undertook an extensive search, sifting through 80 tonnes of landfill before locating Mr. Turhan's body. "Almost two months after his murder, Mr. Turhan's naked and mutilated body was found on January 11th this year," Mr. Paxton told the court. The discovery was made at Bellhouse Landfill Site off Warren Lane, Colchester.
The Motive and Flight
The prosecution alleges a motive of jealousy, stating that there had been an "ongoing and simmering issue" between Dinler and Turhan because of a relationship between Turhan and Dinler's girlfriend. Following the alleged murder, Dinler reportedly worked his shift at the bar before traveling to London Stansted Airport and boarding a flight to Istanbul. Mr. Paxton stated, "He was fleeing the UK having murdered Mr. Turhan."
