Sam Leavitt, Jordyn Tyson Deliver Spectacular TD as ASU Dominates Texas State

Sam Leavitt, Jordyn Tyson execute the incredible for ASU TD

TEMPE — Sam Leavitt and Jordyn Tyson each executed the incredible on Arizona State’s first touchdown against Texas State on Saturday.

First, it was Leavitt’s Houdini tactics to escape pressure before throwing in mid-air after jumping off one foot on the run.

Tyson hauled in the catch in open space, stayed in bounds and hurdled a falling defender to tiptoe the sideline on his way into the end zone.

It gave ASU a 10-3 lead after the first quarter saw each team knock through a field goal.

The highlight wasn’t the first incredible play by the pair on the night, as Tyson’s night began with a 36-yard catch while fighting off coverage with one arm and playing through the contact from an additional defender.

The big plays kept coming too, as ASU forced a takeaway via fumble on the ensuing drive. It was ASU’s second forced fumble on the night but first recovered by the defense.

Leavitt was critical in capitalizing with the Houdini effect coming back on additional scrambles before he later snuck in a score. He had previously converted a fourth down via QB sneak, which we haven’t seen much out of Leavitt at ASU.

By the time the Sun Devils took a 17-3 lead with 10:22 remaining in the first half, they were outgaining Texas State 199-62 in total yards.
