UH Football Games to Air on Spectrum SportsNet, Expanding Reach to Southern California and Nevada

Seven University of Hawai'i (UH) football games in the 2025 season will be broadcast on Spectrum SportsNet, reaching fans in Southern California and parts of Nevada. The expanded coverage begins with Saturday's game against Sam Houston.

Expanded Television Coverage

This agreement marks a significant step forward for UH football, increasing its visibility in key markets such as Los Angeles and Las Vegas, which have strong ties to Hawai'i. The telecasts will air live to Spectrum SportsNet, Hawaiian Telcom, and DirecTV subscribers.

The agreement includes the remaining home games and the road game at Colorado State produced by Spectrum Sports Hawai'i. The November 8 matchup against San Diego State will be televised on Spectrum SportsNet LA. Games will also continue to be broadcast live in Hawai'i on Spectrum Sports (Channels 12 and 1012 or Hawaiian Telcom Channel 89) and via the Spectrum TV App.

All seven games will also be available for streaming on the Mountain West app, excluding viewers in Hawai'i.

Statements from UH Athletics

UH Mānoa Athletic Director Matt Elliott emphasized the importance of this expanded coverage:

"This is a tremendous step forward for UH football, with our home games now reaching fans in key markets across the western U.S., including places like Los Angeles and Las Vegas, where there are strong connections to Hawai’i. This exposure is invaluable for recruiting, strengthening ties with our current fans and building an entirely new generation of supporters."

Elliott also noted the scrapping of the pay-per-view format, making the games available at no extra cost to Spectrum Sports and Hawaiian Telcom viewers.

Key Matchup: UH vs. Sam Houston

Tonight's game features two teams navigating unsettled quarterback situations. For Sam Houston, Hunter Watson and Mabrey Mettauer are competing for the starting role. Watson is known for his running ability, while Mettauer excels in the passing game.

"Both need to prepare to start every week," SHSU head coach Phil Longo told reporters. "If they’re both productive, I’ll play both of them."

The Rainbow Warriors also face uncertainty at quarterback, with Micah Alejado listed as a "game-time decision" due to a foot injury. Luke Weaver has been practicing with the first-team offense.

Looking Ahead

UH Athletics is actively seeking additional opportunities to broaden its reach nationally and through streaming platforms. The Mountain West is currently negotiating national TV deals set to begin in the 2026-27 academic year.

The Rainbow Warriors aim to improve their run defense after allowing significant gains in their first two games. They are coming off a win against Stanford and a loss to Arizona.
