German pop sensation Nina Chuba, known for her hit “Wildberry Lillet,” has revealed she has cut off contact with a portion of her family due to irreconcilable political views. The 26-year-old singer shared her decision in an interview, citing disagreements with relatives from eastern Germany.

Political Stance Against the AfD

Chuba, who grew up near Hamburg but whose parents are originally from Saxony-Anhalt, stated that she could no longer tolerate the political beliefs held by some of her family members. "I broke with a part of my East German family because they hold political views that I don't stand for," Nina Chuba explained. She made her stance against the AfD (Alternative für Deutschland), a right-wing political party in Germany, very clear: "I can't show any false tolerance or understanding. I am absolutely against the AfD."

Early Career and Challenges in the Music Industry

Nina Chuba's career began at a young age when she appeared in the children's television series "Die Pfefferkörner" at the age of seven, using her birth name Nina Flynn. Despite her early start, she has faced challenges in the entertainment industry. She recently spoke about a difficult experience filming for ZDF, a German public-service television broadcaster.

As a musician, Chuba feels women face added pressure. "As a woman in this industry, you have to constantly prove yourself," she said in the interview. "You always have to fight harder for your fame than a man." Chuba also notes that even success doesn't shield female artists from criticism: "Something will always be taken and torn apart from a successful woman."

Chuba discussed the double standards prevalent in the music industry, referencing the criticism faced by Taylor Swift. She also mentioned author Caroline Wahl, who has been criticized for not living in the same "precarious conditions" as her characters. "I get so fucking angry," stated Chuba regarding the unfair treatment.

Since her breakthrough in 2022 with "Wildberry Lillet," Nina Chuba has become a prominent figure in German pop music. The song topped the charts and has over 200 million streams on Spotify.
