Falcons WRs Darnell Mooney and Drake London Cleared to Face Vikings
The Atlanta Falcons are heading into their "Sunday Night Football" matchup against the Minnesota Vikings with good news on the injury front. Both starting wide receivers, Drake London and Darnell Mooney, have been cleared of their injury designations and are expected to play.
London's Speedy Recovery
Drake London, who suffered a shoulder sprain in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is off the injury report. Coach Raheem Morris expressed optimism about London's toughness and availability earlier in the week.
"I mean, Drake is, like, Drake," Morris said. "He's ultimately tough, and he is what he is, and we know Drake. I do expect him to play."
London was limited in practice on Wednesday but participated fully on Thursday. Last season, London was a standout receiver, catching 100 passes for 1,271 yards and nine touchdowns. He led the NFL in receiving yards in the final three games of the season.
Mooney Returns to the Field
Darnell Mooney is also off the injury report after missing Week 1 with a shoulder ailment he sustained on July 24, the first day of training camp. He has only recently started practicing again.
In 2024, Mooney recorded 992 receiving yards on 64 catches, scoring a career-high five touchdowns. His return provides a boost to the Falcons' receiving corps. This marks the first time in a month and a half that the Falcons' starting wide receiver corps is fully healthy.
Other Injury Updates
Rookie edge rusher James Pearce Jr. (groin) and rookie cornerback Billy Bowman (shoulder) are listed as questionable for the game. Coach Morris stated he is optimistic about both players' chances of playing.
Reserve wide receiver Casey Washington (concussion) and return man Jamal Agnew have been ruled out for the game. Dee Alford will serve as the primary returner in Agnew's absence, according to Morris.
