Penguins Welcome Back Legend Marc-Andre Fleury on Professional Tryout
The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced the signing of goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury to a professional tryout (PTO) contract. This move brings the beloved three-time Stanley Cup champion back to the city where he spent 13 seasons and etched his name into franchise history. The announcement was made by President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kyle Dubas.
Fleury to Participate in Practice and Preseason Game
Fleury, age 40, will join the Penguins for practice on Friday, September 26th, at 12:00 PM. He is also slated to play in portions of Pittsburgh's exhibition game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday, September 27th, at 7:00 PM at PPG Paints Arena. This will mark a special occasion for fans to celebrate Fleury's return to Pittsburgh.

Fleury's Illustrious NHL Career
Marc-Andre Fleury enjoyed a remarkable 22-year career in the NHL (2003-2025), playing for four teams: Pittsburgh Penguins, Vegas Golden Knights, Chicago Blackhawks, and Minnesota Wild. He has a career regular-season record of 575-339-97 with 76 shutouts in 1,051 games. His 575 wins ranks second only to Martin Brodeur in NHL history.
Accolades and Achievements
Fleury's individual awards include four NHL All-Star Game selections, one Second-Team NHL All-Star selection (2021), one Vezina Trophy (2021), and one William M. Jennings Trophy (2021). He has achieved 15 20-win seasons, nine 30-win seasons, and two 40-win seasons demonstrating his consistent excellence.

During his 13 seasons (2003-2017) with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Fleury set numerous franchise records for goaltenders. These include games played (691), wins (375), and shutouts (44). His 2.58 goals-against average is first, and his .912 save percentage is second among Penguins goaltenders with at least 100 games played.

Fleury's playoff accomplishments with the Penguins are equally impressive. He leads the team in playoff games played (115), wins (62), and shutouts (10). His playoff goals-against average (2.65) and save percentage (.908) also rank among the best in franchise history.

Fleury received several club awards during his time with the Penguins, including three Players’ Player Awards (2015, ’16, ’17), two Baz Bastien Memorial Awards (2010, ’12), one Defensive Player of the Year Award (2012), two Edward J. Draft History
Marc-Andre Fleury was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins with the first overall pick in the 2003 NHL Draft. He is one of only three goaltenders in NHL history to be selected first overall, the others being Rick DiPietro (2000) and Michel Plasse (1968).
