Nvidia CEO "Disappointed" After Report China Bans AI Chips

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has expressed disappointment following reports that China has banned the company's artificial intelligence chips. The ban, if fully implemented, could significantly impact Nvidia's business in the region.

Details of the Alleged Ban

According to a report by the Financial Times, the Cyberspace Administration of China has instructed companies like TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, and Alibaba, not to purchase Nvidia's RTX Pro 6000D. This particular chip was specifically designed for the Chinese market.

"We can only be in service of a market if the country wants us to be," said Huang in response to the report.

Huang added, "We probably contributed more to the China market than most countries have. And I'm disappointed with what I see, but they have larger agendas to work out between China and the United States, and I'm understanding of that."

Nvidia's Shifting Strategy in China

The situation marks the culmination of a challenging period for Nvidia's operations in China, which Huang characterized as "a bit of a roller coaster."

"We've guided all financial analysts not to include China" in financial forecasts, Huang informed reporters at a press briefing in London on Wednesday. "The reason for that is because that's largely going to be within the discussions of the United States government and Chinese government."
