Las Vegas Ranks Among Top 10 Best Foodie Cities in America, WalletHub Survey Reveals

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas was listed in the top 10 best foodie cities in America, according to a new survey. Several other Nevada cities also made the list further down in the ranking.

The term “foodie” is used to describe someone with a passion for food and new culinary experiences. WalletHub compiled a list of the best foodie cities in the America, which appeal to both people who prefer to cook at home and “adventurous eaters eager to sample local flavors.”

WalletHub looked at over 180 cities across the United States across two metrics, “Affordability” and “Diversity, Accessibility & Quality,” divided into 28 “key indicators of foodie appeal.”

Some of the indicators the company looked at were cost of groceries, restaurant meal cost, restaurants per capita, restaurant diversity, average beer and wine price, coffee and tea shops per capita, and grocery stores per capita.

The top five foodie cities according to the list are Miami, Florida; Portland, Oregon; San Francisco, California; Seattle, Washington; and Orlando, Florida.

Las Vegas made the list at no. 8, just under Tampa, Florida, and Sacramento, California. Other Nevada cities to make the list include Reno (no. 59), Henderson (no. 121), and North Las Vegas (no. 132).

Some key takeaways involving Nevada included lowest average beer and wine price (with Reno landing at no. 1 and Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson tied at no. 2). Las Vegas was also listed as having the most restaurants per capita, tying with Miami, Florida; Orlando, Florida; San Francisco, California; and Houston, Texas.

Las Vegas is also one of the cities listed as having the most ice cream and frozen yogurt shops per capita.
