Helldivers 2 Social Hub? Arrowhead Teases Feature for Next Game
Fans of Helldivers 2 have long requested a social hub similar to Destiny 2's Tower. While not coming to the current game, Arrowhead Game Studios has indicated that this feature is "on the feature list" for their next project, although it's not Helldivers 3.
The Social Hub Request
Currently, Helldivers 2 utilizes spaceships as small staging areas for players to prepare for missions. These ships accommodate up to three players, allowing them to customize their appearance and loadouts. However, the absence of a larger social hub has been a point of discussion within the community, especially given the game's social nature and the community-driven galactic war.
Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani responded to a fan suggestion on Discord for "a social hub space station (like the tower in Destiny)" with a definitive: "it's on the feature list for the next one." This response generated considerable excitement but needed further clarification.
Not Helldivers 3
Despite the initial assumption that the social hub would be implemented in Helldivers 3, Jorjani clarified that his statement referred to Arrowhead's next game, which is separate from the anticipated sequel. He stated, "This was about our next game, not HD3."

Helldivers 2's Continued Support
Arrowhead has emphasized its commitment to supporting Helldivers 2 for the foreseeable future. The recent launch of the game on Xbox Series X and S and the release of the "Into the Unjust" update, which added Hive Worlds, demonstrates their dedication to expanding the game's content. In April, Helldivers 2 production director Alex Bolle told IGN they "want it to be around for years and years and years to come."
Looking to the Future
While the absence of a social hub in Helldivers 2 might disappoint some players, the prospect of its inclusion in Arrowhead's next project offers a glimpse into the studio's future plans. The ongoing success of Helldivers 2 suggests that a sequel or a similar project leveraging the established gameplay and community engagement is likely, even if it's still years away. Johan Pilestedt, former CEO, has referenced the idea by stating "we are growing Helldivers 2 into Helldivers 3."
