LSU Secures Commitment from Four-Star Quarterback Peyton Houston for 2027 Class

LSU Lands Commitment from Star Quarterback Peyton Houston

LSU has secured its first commitment for the 2027 recruiting class, landing four-star quarterback Peyton Houston from Cotton Valley (La.) Evangel Christian. The highly touted in-state prospect chose the Tigers over offers from several prominent programs.

A Prized In-State Talent

Houston is ranked as the No. 8 quarterback and No. 94 overall prospect by Rivals Industry. The 5-foot-10, 202-pound athlete drew significant interest from top programs nationwide.

Offensive coordinator Joe Sloan led the recruitment for LSU. Houston was recently in Baton Rouge for the Tigers' victory over Florida, solidifying his decision.

Impressive On-Field Performance

Through two games as a junior, Houston has completed 68% of his passes for 664 yards and five touchdowns. He has also added two rushing touchdowns to his impressive stat line.

As a sophomore, Houston amassed 5,170 total yards and 45 touchdowns. He also holds an NFHS record with 817 passing yards in a single game. He finished the season with 4,480 passing yards, earning First Team All-District, First Team All-Prep, and First Team LSWA All-State honors.

A Strong Academic Profile

Beyond his athletic prowess, Peyton Houston maintains a stellar 4.0 GPA, showcasing his commitment to academics.

Recruitment Process and Visit to LSU

LSU extended an offer to Houston a year prior to his commitment and intensified their efforts this year. A visit to the campus in February played a significant role in his decision.

"My visit was amazing and it was an all-day event," Houston said. "I got to tour every part of the campus with Coach (Trey) Holtz and Coach PK (Patrick Kelly). I also had the chance to talk with all the people I would interact with on a daily basis... I met with Coach (Joe) Sloan and saw how I would fit into the offense, how he teaches his quarterbacks, and his standards for quarterbacks both on and off the field."

Other Programs in the Mix

Other notable programs that offered Houston included Oklahoma, USC, Notre Dame, Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Tennessee, highlighting his widespread appeal.
