Sydney Shooting: Man Arrested After Croydon Park Incident Leaves Multiple Injured
A 60-year-old man has been arrested following a shooting in Croydon Park, an inner-west suburb of Sydney, on Sunday evening. The incident resulted in at least one person suffering a gunshot wound, with several others sustaining injuries. Police have launched an investigation and the area was placed under lockdown.
Details of the Croydon Park Shooting
Police were called to Georges River Road in Croydon Park at approximately 7:45 PM on Sunday following reports of gunshots. Specialist police resources were deployed, and residents were urged to remain indoors while authorities secured the area. Multiple media outlets reported the alleged gunman may have fired shots from a rooftop.
Around 9:30 PM, police arrested a man inside a building on Georges River Road. A number of firearms were seized during the arrest. A police statement indicated that several vehicles, including a police vehicle, were damaged during the incident.
Injuries and Medical Response
A man in his 50s presented to Canterbury Hospital with a gunshot wound and was later transferred to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in serious condition. Three other individuals with minor injuries presented to Campsie Police Station. Paramedics treated these three – a man and a woman in their 30s, and a woman in her 50s – before they were transported to Canterbury Hospital. In total, paramedics treated 16 people at the scene for minor injuries, with two being taken to Royal Prince Alfred.
NSW Ambulance reported that at least one man in his 40s suffered facial injuries while sheltering behind glass. There were no reports of police officers being injured during the incident.

This incident follows two other recent shooting events in Australia. On September 9th, a man was hospitalized after being shot by police officers at a house fire in Wynnum West, a suburb of Brisbane in Queensland. Police were called to the scene following reports of a house fire, and an interaction between officers and the man resulted in him being shot. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
Prior to that, on September 7th, a 26-year-old man died after being shot in Melbourne. According to police reports, the victim was standing with a group when an unknown assailant in a vehicle shot him. He was transported to a hospital by his associates but succumbed to his injuries.
