The SPAR Baby Proteas have etched their names in history as they triumphed over the Cook Islands with a score of 79-45 on Thursday, securing South Africa's first-ever semi-final berth at the 2025 Netball World Youth Cup in Gibraltar.
This remarkable victory under Head Coach Precious Mthembu not only marks a significant milestone for the team but also presents them with a chance to contend for a place on the podium.
"I am incredibly proud of the girls; I am actually tearing up. This is history in the making because we have finally secured a quarter-final victory and booked a semi-final spot. This has never happened before. The girls believed in each other, supported one another, and this is unbelievable. This win is a testament to the discipline, hard work, and determination shown by the girls throughout this journey. Now, we need to shift focus to tomorrow’s game against Australia," expressed an emotional Precious Mthembu.
