Jessica Sanchez, the Fil-Am singer, delivered a stunning performance on America's Got Talent (AGT) Semifinals despite being in her ninth month of pregnancy. Her journey on the show has captivated audiences, and she recently shared an update about her pregnancy with fans.
Pregnancy Update and Semifinals Preparation
On September 14th, Sanchez announced she was officially entering her ninth month. “Today I officially step into my 9th month of pregnancy ✨ My heart is overflowing with gratitude for all the love and kind words that have been pouring in,” she stated. She expressed gratitude and acknowledged the unexpected nature of her journey, competing while pregnant on AGT.
She added, “I never imagined I’d be spending these final weeks of pregnancy away from home, in the middle of such an exciting competition. I truly believe God’s plan is greater than my own. This journey has been so unexpected, yet so beautiful, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Semifinals Performance and Judge's Feedback
During the September 16th Semifinals, Jessica Sanchez performed a soulful rendition of "Golden Hour" by JVKE. Her vocal prowess impressed the judges. Sofia Vergara, who gave Sanchez her Golden Buzzer, praised her, saying, "Jessica, you get better and better. It's perfection, your voice, your little belly, your story."
While Howie Mandel questioned the song choice, Mel B called her vocals "just magical." Simon Cowell loved the song and called the performance a "moment," highlighting Sanchez's talent, likability, and perseverance throughout her career.
The Road to the Finals
Sanchez earned a spot in the Quarterfinals after receiving the Golden Buzzer from Sofia Vergara. After advancing from the Quarterfinals, she now competes for a spot in the Finals. Out of the 11 acts competing in the Semifinals, one will advance directly to the Finals through the judges' Semifinal Golden Buzzer, and five more will be chosen by viewers' votes.
Four Quarterfinal Golden Buzzer winners (Steve Ray Ladson, Mama Duke, Micah Palace, and Team Recycled) have already secured their places in the Finals. Jessica Sanchez is hoping to join them.
A Career Comeback and the Stakes
This is not Jessica Sanchez’s first time on America’s Got Talent. She previously appeared on Season 1 and was also the runner-up on Season 11 of American Idol. Now, she is aiming for the $1 million grand prize on AGT Season 20. America's votes will determine if she advances to the Final, scheduled for September 24th.
Sanchez told AGT host Terry Crews, "I just keep telling my baby, please just stay in there another week.”
