Parent Charged After Driving Towards Students at Oshawa High School

A parent is facing charges after allegedly driving dangerously through a field at G.L. Roberts Collegiate Vocational Institute in Oshawa, Ontario, on September 19th. According to Durham Regional Police, the incident occurred after the parent learned their child had been involved in an altercation with other students.

Incident Details and Police Response

Police responded to reports of a vehicle being driven erratically through the school's parking lot and sports field around 3:40 p.m. They stated that the vehicle "was seen driving dangerously toward students in the area," before fleeing the scene along a nearby waterfront trail. Officers located debris from the vehicle in the vicinity.

“The driver was identified as the parent of a student at the school, who had driven through the property after learning their child had been involved in an altercation with other students at the school. Officers attended the suspect’s residence and took him into custody without incident,” police said.

Legal Charges and Ongoing Investigation

A 31-year-old man from Oshawa has been charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance and assault with a weapon. His identity is being withheld to protect the identity of the student. He was released on an undertaking. Durham Regional Police are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact them.

Thankfully, “No persons suffered any physical injuries.”
