Teen in Critical Condition After Dublin City Centre Stabbing
A teenager is in critical condition following a serious assault in Dublin city centre on Sunday night, September 21, 2025. The 17-year-old was repeatedly stabbed during an altercation on Eden Quay and is currently receiving treatment at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.
Details of the Attack
The assault occurred at approximately 10:00 PM outside a licensed premises on Eden Quay, near the Temple Bar area. According to reports, the teenager suffered multiple stab wounds to his head, neck, torso, feet, and hands. Paramedics from Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene before transporting the victim to the hospital. Gardaí believe the attack followed an altercation between the victim and a group of other males who returned armed with at least one knife.

Gardaí at Store Street Garda Station are investigating the incident and have completed a technical examination of the scene. They are appealing for witnesses and anyone with video footage of the incident to come forward. We have a serious crisis of law and order in our society." Flynn added that he hoped the teenager recovers and that the perpetrator is brought to justice.
Increased Knife Crime in Dublin
This incident follows another stabbing in Temple Bar on Saturday night, where an English tourist was injured. Gardaí have been investigating a recent increase in knife attacks in the city centre. While knife seizures are slightly down year-on-year, they have soared by almost 60% in the past decade. Over 2,100 knives were seized by gardaí last year, with half of those seizures occurring in Dublin.
