Munich (Reuters) – Drones have been sighted at airports and military facilities throughout Germany in the last two days, according to Bild newspaper, which cited a confidential police report, indicating that this week’s sightings at Munich airport were the tip of the iceberg.
Dozens of flights were diverted or canceled at Munich airport on Friday, after both lanes were closed after the second drone sighting in two days. The operations were resumed, with delays on Saturday morning.
There is a growing concern that Russia may be behind a growing number of recent drone forays into Ukraine’s airspace. Russia, which is crashing a war in Ukraine, has denied any involvement.

Quoting the confidential police report that said it had access, Bild said the drones signed at Munich airport were “militarily used”, without giving more details or saying where they came from.
Other sightings in the last three days, according to the newspaper, included a drone seen on Friday morning flying about 700 meters from Frankfurt Airport, Germany’s largest connection center, and a small aircraft that would have flew over ammunition in northern Germany on Friday afternoon.
Three drones were also seen the day before, apparently flying in training, above a base of the Federal Police air unit near the city of Gifhorn in the north of the country, he said.

A 41 -year -old Croatian man was arrested and is being investigated for evidence of public order in connection with the incident in Frankfurt, the newspaper said.
‘Arms race’
The German Ministry of Defense confirmed a media report that drones were seen flying over the Munich Military Military Base near the time of the first airport closure on Thursday night.
The Erding base housed some drug research and development of the German Armed Forces.

Police did not disclose details about the nature or origin of the drones. These sightings left about 11,500 passengers stuck for two nights and made the shipments of flights be canceled, diverted or postponed.
Germany’s Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, guest to a summit of interior of Europe with a focus on migration in Munich on Saturday, told reporters to equate police with a drone defense unit.
“We are in a arms race,” he said. “We want to be up to this challenge.”

In recent weeks, European aviation has been released in chaos due to drone and air raid.
Dobrindt has promised legislation that will become easier for police to ask the military to overthrow drones.
