TQL Stadium Severs Ties with Lucius Q BBQ Over Co-Owner's Controversial Social Media Posts on Charlie Kirk

TQL Stadium Ends Partnership with Lucius Q BBQ After Co-Owner's Social Media Posts

TQL Stadium in Cincinnati has announced the termination of its partnership with Lucius Q BBQ following backlash over social media posts made by one of the restaurant's now-former co-owners, Aaron Sharpe. The decision was revealed in a social media statement on Thursday.

Details of the Controversy

The controversy stems from multiple social media posts attributed to Aaron Sharpe, apparently commenting on the death of Charlie Kirk, the founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA. One comment allegedly stated, "Good riddance! What a piece of s—." These comments are currently not publicly visible on Sharpe's social media page. However, Sharpe addressed the backlash, stating, "If you think that threats of social media attacks on me or my business will in any way keep me silent about what I believe, you are sorely mistaken."

TQL Stadium's Response

In its statement, TQL Stadium emphasized that it expects vendors and partners "to uphold the values of respect and tolerance that are core to our club's identity." They added, "We were founded on the idea that soccer unites, and we remain committed to ensuring that FCC is for all and that we provide a safe and welcoming environment for our patrons." This commitment led to the termination of the relationship with Lucius Q.

Lucius Q's Reaction and Sharpe's Departure

Factory 52, which houses another Lucius Q location, also condemned Sharpe's posts and is "reviewing all legal options to address it appropriately." Shortly after the initial posts, Lucius Q announced that Aaron Sharpe is no longer associated with the restaurant.

"Tonight, we are announcing that Lucius Q BBQ has severed all ties with minority partner Aaron Sharpe, who made unacceptable comments during a private chat on his personal Facebook page about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The owners of Lucius Q condemn violence in any form for any reason. We are merely a locally-owned barbeque joint whose sole purpose is to use food to bring together people from every walk of life and to provide employment for more than 30 hardworking people." - Statement from Lucius Q to WCPO

It remains uncertain whether this change will impact TQL Stadium's decision. As of now, there has been no further comment from Lucius Q, TQL Stadium, or Factory 52.
