SuperArte Gala Celebrates Talent and Inclusion at Teatro Real

The SuperArte Gala, organized by Fundación SIFU, took place at the Teatro Real in Madrid, showcasing the talents of artists with disabilities. The event aimed to promote their social and professional integration through art and celebrated the power of diversity in the cultural landscape.

A Night of Performances

Hosted by influencer and speech therapist Inés Rodríguez, the gala featured eight musical and dance performances by artists with various disabilities. These artists demonstrated how art can be a powerful medium to overcome barriers and express creativity. The performances included diverse artistic expressions and talents.

  • Joel Bueno, an artist with cerebral palsy, played the grand piano using a robotic arm developed by ABB and Erni.
  • The inclusive gala orchestra was joined by 20 musicians from the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía.
  • Nieves López, a rap singer and producer, presented her new song 'Como la curo'.
  • Ismael Rosario, an artist who creates music using Eyeharp technology, which allows people with disabilities to play music with their eyes, delivered an emotional performance.
  • Other performers included Tristán Montoro, Adrián Esparza, and Ana Urréjola, all contributing to a diverse and inclusive artistic experience.

Key Moments and Testimonials

One of the most moving moments featured Ismael Rosario, who played the EyeHarp. His parents emphasized the value of the SuperArte scholarship, stating that "SIFU was an opening of doors and financial support. They have given us a total breath of life." Similarly, Nieves López, shared how art liberates her and allows her to express herself without causing harm.

"Me gustaría que la gente que no ha visto nunca este instrumento entendiera que todos podemos tocar." - Ismael Rosario

SIFU Foundation's Commitment to Inclusion

Cristian Rovira, president of Fundación SIFU, and Oriol Saña, artistic director, attended the gala. Alberto Núñez Feijóo, president of the Partido Popular, was also present. According to the foundation, the Gala SuperArte is "the largest inclusive and artistic event in Europe," having brought together over 20,000 spectators and more than 100 artists with and without disabilities across more than 20 galas.

SuperArte Scholarships: Empowering Artists

The initiative is part of the Fundación SIFU's SuperArte program, which supports the education and professional development of artists with disabilities through the SuperArte Scholarships. These scholarships provide quality education to talented artists, enabling them to fully develop their potential and pursue their artistic careers. The gala acts as an extension to the SuperArte scholarships, combatting a perceived lack of opportunities.

"La Gala SuperArte no es solo una celebración, es una muestra viva de que el arte y la inclusión pueden cambiar el mundo." - Cristian Rovira

Beyond the Performance: A Vision for the Future

Cristian Rovira emphasized that the event highlights the need to provide space and support for talent to flourish. The performances included Pascal Kleiman, a musician and DJ who plays with his feet, and showcased adapted instruments like the musical joystick. The gala concluded with a collective performance of L’amour toujours, leaving the audience inspired and demonstrating the importance of inclusivity in the arts and beyond.
