Panama City Downtown Farmers Market Set to Return to McKenzie Park

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – The downtown farmers market will soon be moving back to McKenzie Park.

The Panama City Downtown Improvement Board moved the market onto Harrison Avenue this summer because construction projects limited access to the park. The work closed Park Avenue from Belle Booth Place to Oak Avenue.

Construction along Park Avenue is almost complete, and the market could return to the park as early as a month.

The farmers market has grown to about 120 vendors, and there are 84 businesses downtown.

“If the farmer’s market is successful, it will also benefit the merchants and vice versa. We want downtown to be a destination in Panama City. And what better way to do it than with the thriving farmer’s market and merchants that are can’t miss? You’ve got to come check out all the merchants as well,” Panama City Downtown Improvement Board Chairman Jayson Kretzer said.

The DIB is creating a farmers market contract to decide a vendor fee structure. The money goes directly back into downtown improvements.
