South Bend School Board President Elected to ISBA Board
Jeanette McCullough, President of the South Bend Community School Corporation (SBCSC) board, has been elected as the Region 2 Director on the Indiana School Boards Association (ISBA) board of directors. This significant achievement occurred during the ISBA 2025 Delegate Assembly held on September 15th.
McCullough's New Role and Responsibilities
As Region 2 Director, McCullough will represent several counties in northern Indiana, including St. Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall, Kosciusko, LaGrange, and LaPorte counties. The ISBA is governed by a 14-member board, comprising four officers and ten regional directors, all of whom are locally elected or appointed school board members.
Delegate Assembly Highlights
During the 2025 Delegate Assembly, where McCullough served as SBCSC's voting representative, delegates approved the ISBA's budget for the upcoming year. They also ratified the 2026 Legislative Priorities and Foundational Statements, as recommended by the ISBA Legislative Committee. A slate of officers and directors for the ISBA Board of Directors was also confirmed.
Superintendent's Statement
SBCSC Superintendent Mansour Eid praised McCullough's election, stating,
"Dr. McCullough's appointment as Region 2 Director reflects a significant achievement for our school corporation and the entire region. Her hard work and experience will make a positive impact on all our schools."
The Indiana School Boards Association
The Delegate Assembly is an annual event crucial for conducting ISBA business. Each member school board in Indiana is entitled to send one representative to participate in discussions and votes on key issues. Currently, all 290 school corporations in Indiana are members of the ISBA. ISBA Executive Director Terry Spradlin commended the delegates for their dedication and service to the organization.
