It sounds more like a prank that the students would try to pull off, but in this particular case, a teacher has been arrested for allegedly using fart spray at the high school where he teaches.

Alexander Paul Robertson Lewis, a 32-year-old teaching assistant at West Florence High School in Florence, South Carolina, has been charged with disturbing schools and malicious injury to property with a value of over $10,000. Florence is located about 70 miles west of Myrtle Beach.

According to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, Lewis “is alleged to have sprayed an internet-acquired spray designed to imitate fecal odor at the school” between Aug. 25 and Sept. 19 of this year. Authorities further added that “Lewis used the spray on multiple occasions and over time resulting in a disruption of the school, children requiring medical attention for respiratory issues and requiring the school to incur an expenditure of over $55,000 for inspection and damage to the school air conditioning system.”

The Florence County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is “ongoing and additional charges are possible.” Lewis, according to court records, has paid a $1,090 surety bond and is not listed as an inmate in the county detention center where he was initially held. Court records also indicate Lewis is due back in criminal/traffic court Oct. 15.
