Blue Jays Activate Slugger Anthony Santander From Injured List Ahead of Red Sox Game

Anthony Santander Returns: Blue Jays Activate Slugger from IL

The Toronto Blue Jays have reactivated veteran slugger Anthony Santander from the 60-day injured list. This announcement came shortly before their game against the Boston Red Sox. Santander is expected to be available for the game. In a corresponding move, first baseman Ty France was placed on the 10-day IL.

Roster Moves and Injury Updates

First baseman Ty France has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to left oblique inflammation, retroactive to Monday. Additionally, right-handed pitcher Alek Manoah has been designated for assignment. Santander had been sidelined with a shoulder injury since May 29 and recently concluded a rehab assignment with the triple-A Buffalo Bisons, whose season ended on Sunday.

Santander's Impact and Contract

Anthony Santander signed a five-year, US$92.5-million deal with the Blue Jays in January, following eight seasons with the Baltimore Orioles. Prior to his injury, the former all-star had a .179 batting average with 33 hits, six home runs, and 18 runs batted in over 50 games for Toronto.

Bichette's Progress

Blue Jays manager John Schneider mentioned that all-star shortstop Bo Bichette has been taking swings in the batting cage on Monday and will continue to do so on Tuesday, signaling a potential return from his own injury.
